Update from Vida’s Functional Medicine Team on COVID-19
As you are all aware, the COVID-19 coronavirus has come to our communities of Seattle, Bellevue, Kirkland, and Everett.
Vida’s top priority continues to be keeping our patients and team healthy & SAFE. The Vida team will be following current guidelines and recommendations provided to us by the Washington Department of Health and King County Health Department.
COVID-19 is a respiratory virus and The Department of Health is recommending extra caution in public settings for individuals who are 60 or older or who have underlying health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, lung disease, or a weakened immune system.
In order to help support our Vida Community, we are expanding our offerings of our Vida Telehealth services AND offering immune support strategies for those wishing to bolster their immune system. Please note, this is not a treatment for the virus or substitute for preventative measures.
We are fortunate to have an Integrative Physician team that works with nutraceutical, herbal, and pharmacologic approaches, many of which offer immune support and enhance the body’s ability to fight infection. To be clear, immune support is intended for preventative support and non-symptomatic individuals.
We encourage all community members to engage in active preventative strategies including hand-washing, cough and sneeze etiquette, and using proper personal protective equipment.

How to Best Support Your Immune System
Dr. Michael Corsilles, Functional Medicine Physician & PC-A explains how your immune system responds to viruses and what you can do to boost your own immune system.
The first stage of fighting an infection requires the immune system to ramp up a response and clear the virus. This can take a few days to several weeks and requires the body to become inflamed to fight the infection. This is not specific to COVID-19. This is an appropriate response which we WANT our immune system to do.
Preventative support strategies that may be considered and should be discussed with your doctor
- Vitamin C infusions including IV drip (up to 25 grams) and IV push (up to 4 grams).
Vitamin C acts as a way of bolstering the immune response while quelling inflammation and cellular distress. Intravenous Vit C is currently being studied for COVID-19 as a clinical trial (CLINICAL TRIAL NCT04264533).
- Botanical approaches using immune supportive and antiviral herbs.
- Nutrient optimization with vitamins and minerals.
