In September, 2018 Vida Kirkland was formed as the result of a merger between Northwest Chiropractic Center and Vida Integrated Health. Northwest’s founder, Dr. Lew Estabrook, along with long-time associates Drs. Caedin Pettigrew and Tim Clanton, have been collaborating with other healthcare fields for decades to the great benefit of their patients. Vida’s model of integrated “team care” was the perfect fit.

Dr. Estabrook’s reputation for excellent patient care has resulted in his serving as team chiropractor for the Seattle Sounders, Seattle Reign and Seattle Storm. He has been a clinical consultant with the Seahawks, UW Sports, US Olympic Training Center and US Track and Field. In addition to maintaining a clinical schedule he is now bringing his considerable experience to the Director of Chiropractic role across all Vida clinics.

Since 2010 it has been Vida’s mission is to help you reach your health goals and make it convenient and enjoyable while doing it. We could not be happier to bring true integrated team care including chiropractic, physical therapy, acupuncture, massage therapy and our Functional Medicine Physicians to the thriving Kirkland/Totem Lake community!

Vida is also happy to announce that we have relocated to our brand new clinic at The Village At Totem Lake. Our main entrance is off of 120th Ave NE beside 203 Coffee Company.

Holistic Pregnancy Care: The Webster Technique

As you may know, there are a lot of changes that occur in a woman’s body throughout their pregnancy. Their body must continue to adapt to the increase in hormones, circulatory changes and the postural/mechanical changes that can cause stress on the musculoskeletal system (MSK). These changes can trigger tension and in some cases, pain.

It’s All Connected: Functional Medicine Approach to Mental Health

In functional medicine, we equip our patients with tools like mindfulness and stress management techniques to navigate life’s stresses more gracefully. As for hormones, these little chemical messengers can wreak havoc when they’re out of balance, swinging your mood wildly from joy to despair. Through nutritional guidance and sometimes hormone therapy, we strive to keep these levels stable, ensuring they support rather than disrupt your mental health.

Does Running Cause Arthritis?

The most common form of arthritis is Osteoarthritis (OA), which is a condition marked by degenerative cartilage at the joint.  Osteoarthritis affects 32.5 million adults in the United States. Cartilage is the soft tissue cushion that protects bones from rubbing where they meet. They help with shock absorption, congruency and help the joint glide easily when moved. In OA, as the cartilage cushion wears down, it can cause pain, stiffness and disability to that joint. OA is often referred to as the “wear and tear” arthritis. So, what gives, doesn’t running wear and tear the joints in the body?

Why Choose Chiropractic Care After an Accident in Seattle

Chiropractors are certified specialist that are trained in diagnosing and treating injuries involving the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine, using techniques such as spinal manipulation, soft tissue manipulation, active release technique, physical therapy, laser therapy, radiology, and nutrition, providing an array of non-invasive, drug-free treatment options that cater specifically to your needs post-accident.

A Doctor and Mothers Perspective on Autism

Autism affects approximately 1 in 34 children, with a higher prevalence in boys than in girls. While genetics play a significant role, they don’t paint the entire picture. Environmental factors such as diet, physical activity, exposure to toxins like pesticides and heavy metals, and even screen time, can influence autism traits and symptoms.

Why Runners Run

The real question runners may want to ask themselves, is WHY do people run?  WHY do you run? What inspires you to run?  I have been treating runners for years and have helped them navigate their running-related injuries.  Every one of those patients wanted to get back to running, but what is their WHY?
